C'est nouveau   Our best adresses: Cannes and Around Cannes

  Nice - Terres de Truffes.
Bruno, king of the black truffle from Lorgues in the Var, has just opened a restaurant/boutique in old Nice and the theme is black truffles.
Across from the entrance of the Hotel Beau Rivage, next to the Opera, is a magnificent boutique all in pale wood. From the window, an unmistakable aroma draws you in, and once inside, you are enfolded by the delicate scent of truffles. From the wall hang baskets full of these precious black diamonds and you can also choose from an assortment of truffle preserves and sauces prepared by Bruno.
For lunch there's a surprising array of sandwiches and breads stuffed with truffles.
Dinner is a full-course meal with black truffles for 200F to 300F. Scrambled eggs with truffles, gnocchi with truffles, that melt in your mouth or whole truffle in savory puff pastry.
Our favorite table is the one for four at the entrance of the boutique.

Cannes - la Villa des Lys
Located in Canne's 'Hotel Majestic' is la Villa des Lys, where Chef Bruno Oger amazes us every time. He was named "Chef of the Year 2000" in the Gault Millau Guide (18/20) and given a 2-star rating in the Michelin Red Guide.
Here the dishes on the menu change depending on the season. Impossible to describe it all! The various kinds of seasonal mushrooms accompanying the main dish are the best I've ever eaten. The presentation is simple, the aroma extraordinary!... the result of cooking them several times for short periods and incomparable know-how.
 

Cannes - Small
The restaurant may be 'Small' but the chef's talent is 'Big'. Eric Martinet who studied with Chef Guy Martin of the Grand Véfour, and who was formerly at the Chateau Eza and la Bonne Etape has just opened Small, a restaurant with only a few tables but numerous very creative, flavourful dishes. The ravioli with foie gras will surely become a house classic.
The lunch menu is 100F, dinner menu is 195F to 245F. A real treat!

Tourrettes sur Loup - Auberge de Tourrettes
Chef of a Relais & Chateaux in Scandinavia, Christophe Dufau has chosen to settle in a beautiful medieval village in the hills, a few kilometers from Vence called Tourrettes sur Loup. Here he has tastefully restored and old Inn that has a superb view of the sea.
The restaurant is spacious and in the summer you can enjoy the unimpeded panoramic view while dining on the terrace.
Creative cooking with unusual, exquisite flavours. Simply delightful!
"I was born in Draguignan, in the heart of Provence. The odours and aromas of wild herbs and shopping at local outdoor markets, those are the memories of my youth. I've integrated a number of aspects of traditional Provençal cooking in my cuisine" says Christophe. "It's the taste of my childhood."
"I've travelled all over the world and I'm inspired by the tastes and foods that I became familiar with in China, America, Spain and Antilles. My cuisine is based on local and seasonal produce. It provides me with great joy in creating new dishes. I take pleasure in renewing classic recipes and giving them original twist."

Peillon - Auberge de la Madone
Young Chef Thomas Millo has joined his father Christian at the Auberge de la Madone and together they pay tribute to traditional 'Nicois' cuisine. This year the guide Gault Millau gave them 15/20 for their extraordinary friendliness, without a doubt as result of Marie-Jose Millo warmth!"
Some traditional flavors include broad bean/feva soup with sarriette; spring onions; unfermented white cheese, mountain cured ham; steamed filet of white fish; grilled bell peppers; succulent baby lamb and puree with olive oil. For dessert there is nougat ice cream; honey flavored custard with roast figs.
Done with finesse, a taste to savour... a pleasure to sit at their table!
